Designing for nature
Wildlife
We can create the habitat and spaces wildlife needs to thrive in your garden, we’ll tailor this according to your needs and the local environs. Habitats include: log piles, ponds, wildflowers, bee hotels, birdboxes, dry stone walls
Water
Water is the key to a successful garden, we’ll look at where it falls and flows and where it is needed. We aim to capture and use what the sky gives us. Options include: ponds, water butts, bog gardens, rain gardens, swales, keyline
Healthy soil
Feed the soil, not the plants. Add organic matter not chemicals, ensuring you have a healthy soil ecology and healthy plants. Methods include: composting, mulches, no dig, animal manures, green manures, wormeries, natural liquid fertiliser
Designing for you
Relaxation
Sit in the sun, read a book, drink a cuppa, have a meal or watch the birds go about their business. We’ll design the places in your garden to put your feet up. Options include: patios, benches, arbours, pergolas, trees for shade, deckchairs, hammocks
Play
Play is important and kids need their space, but you don’t want your garden to be destroyed. We’ll create a garden that allows for both. Options include: garden rooms, resilient gardens, mud kitchens, gardens for different ages, suitable surfaces
Staying healthy
Being in a garden is proven to support your mental wellbeing, with social prescribing now being used widely. We’ll identify what you enjoy. Techniques include: scented flowers, colour, evocation of memories, relaxing noises, tactile plants, water
